Early 18th Century Folk-Painted Cupboard of German Provenance c. 1825

A richly painted pine cupboard from Germany, dated 1825. Traditionally crafted as a wedding gift, pieces like this were made to mark the beginning of a household — both practical and symbolic.

The façade is hand-painted with urns of flowers framed in geometric borders, set against a warm honey-toned wood detailing throughout. The original iron hardware and lock remain intact, along with the shaped cornice and tapered feet.

Inside, the cupboard offers three shelves, with updated fabric added in the last century. The surface shows age and patina consistent with its early 19th century origins, contributing to its character.
