Helena Tynell 'Plissé' Vase made for Riihimäkn Lasi Oy, Finland c. 1940

This elegant vase has a beautiful greenish tone and draped handkerchief effect that was designed by Helena Tynell when she worked at Riihimäki Glass in Finland. Etched on the bottom it is signed Helena Turpeinen, which dates pre 1947, which is when she married Paavo Tynell and took his last name becoming Helena Tynell. 

Her work can be found in museums across the world including the Design Museum Helsinki, the National museum in Stockholm, and the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY, USA.
