Modernist Still Life Painting, Sweden

An oil on canvas still life in a bold, painterly hand — a dark glass carafe standing among purple onions and a cluster of ripe red apples, set on a pale cloth against a loosely striped backdrop in moss green and brick red. Thickly worked brushstrokes and a saturated, non-naturalistic palette give the composition real presence. Signed MÅ, lower right. Minor damage to the frame.
