Oval Earthenware Dish by Jérôme Massier, France, c. 1900
A French earthenware oval dish by ceramicist Jérôme Massier (1850–1926) of Vallauris, glazed in a swirling blue-green wash and bordered with an incised geometric band of triangles and hexagons. Marked on the underside "Jérôme Massier." A striking decorative piece with real depth in the glaze work. One area with clay coming through glaze, and a couple of spots with glaze removed especially around the edges as see in the photos. An overall magnificent piece.
